Pastor Matt and Mary KofahlWe happily welcomed Pastor Matthew Kofahl to St. James on July 1st, 2015

Niagara Falls is my hometown. I home town proud, but I know the challenges and struggles of the city and the region.

I attended St. James for my formative years, going to Sunday School, getting confirmed, being active in youth group, small groups, and choir, and finally being approved for the ministry candidacy process by St. James’ staff-parish relations committee. I attended city schools, graduating from the original location of Niagara Falls High School in 1998.

My post high school education was from Houghton College (’02), and a Master of Divinity from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in 2012. I am passionate about the mission and ministry of St. James. I have a desire to see the Gospel succeed in our city because I believe it the hope of the city and the world.

My hobbies include running a group cycling studio out of the church, running, music, and hanging out with my wife and three daughters. God has been good to me and I enjoy living life!

Barbara Hanna

Barb Hanna has been Church Office Administrator since May of 1999 and is the friendly voice that usually answers the phone when you call the church.

She spends much of the rest of her time enjoying her home and grandchildren, and especially enjoys crocheting, knitting and reading. Many babies who have been baptized at St. James have been presented a beautiful afghan crocheted by Barb!

Barb has two married children and seven grandchildren.

Thoughts: "Put God first and live each day to the fullest."

Church office hours: Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Judy Maggs

Judy Maggs St. James’ Director of Music, leads the choir and play organ/piano in the worship service. She has a Bachelor of Music Degree from SUNY Potsdam and has been in music ministry at St. James since 1979, when she took the organist position “temporarily.” Since 2007, she has also served as St. James’ Website Administrator, and she edits "Centered in Christ," St. James' weekly email newsletter.

Judy taught piano at the Music School of Niagara from its opening in 1978 until its closing in 2008 and is a free lance pianist. She enjoys writing, composing music, keeping the website up-to-date, doing puzzles, and playing viola and piano in the Amherst Chamber Ensembles and the Cheektowaga Symphony. (And she helps administer the websites for both orchestras.) She and her husband Will are blessed with three lovely adult daughters, a wonderful son-in-law, and 3 adorable grandsons.

Favorite aspects of her ministry include helping others share their talents for the Lord, the thrill of praising God with his amazing gift of music, and making our website into a true outreach ministry.

"Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world...This precious gift has been given to man alone that he might thereby remind himself that God has created man for the express purpose of praising and extolling God." (Martin Luther)

Music Director's office hours: Tuesday/Thursday 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.  (1 Peter 4:11b)
