Sew and Sows

Sew and Sows bannerOur busy quilters meet every Thursday in the "double door" room at the end of the Education wing from about 9:30 am until 2 pm. They make "Prayer Quilts' and "Cuddle Quilts" for persons in our church and community who are in need of our love and support at this time of their lives.

"Prayer Quilts" are made for those dealing with serious illness. They are put out on a Sunday morning for people to tie three knots: one with a prayer for the person, one with a prayer for their family, and one with a prayer for the medical personnel caring for them.

"Cuddle Quilts" are smaller lap quilts given to those going through a long-term bout of ill health and are a tangible reminder that St. James folks are praying for them.

The "Sew and Sows" (who "sew" quilts as they "sow" seeds of love and compassion) would love to have you join them. Even if you're not a sewer, there are things you can do to help. Come, bring a sandwich for lunch and enjoy some wonderful fellowship while using your talents to bring love and comfort to those going through difficult times. (And if you come on the 4th Thursday of the month and stay for UMW, you get a bonus of dessert!)

Our busy "Sew and Sows" group has made several quilts, which you may view in the slide show below. Pictures will be added as more quilts are finished, so come back often to check them out! (Thank you to Sharon Moore for the pictures.)

If you would like to help in other ways, the group is always in need of cotton or cotton blend fabrics, and any monetary donations will help to provide the materials needed. Contact person: Joyce Perry
